Newport Show reveals 2016 headline sponsors

The support of the business community of one of the biggest one-day shows in the Midlands is “invaluable and contributes massively” to the success of the event, organisers have said.

Newport Show, now in its 107th, has announced home developers Galliers and Bovis as well as Newport-based accountants Barringtons as headline sponsors of the event on July 9.

They join a roster of companies from Newport, and the wider area, keen to back the show which this year features its inaugural Festival of Food, feature celebrity guest chef Nadiya Hussain, the 2015 winner of the Great British Bake Off.

Show President Martin Hall said: “We are very grateful to our headline sponsors and all the other organisations that are supporting us this year.

“As an event that is firmly rooted in the local community, the involvement of local businesses is very much welcomed. The support of businesses is invaluable and contibutes massively to the ongoing success of the event which last year saw 13,000 people come through the gates.”

Andy Gough, sales and marketing director of Galliers Homes said: “As a long-established Shropshire building company, currently developing a site in Church Aston, Galliers Homes is pleased to be one of the main sponsors of this year’s Newport Show.

“We are always keen to be involved in local community events and activities and are looking forward to meeting visitors at the show which promises to be one of the best ever.”

Barringtons Chartered Accountants are a major sponsor for a fourth year. Tax director Andrew Wilshaw, based in Newport, said: “Many clients come from the agricultural community and supporting the show is our way of giving back.

“The show has remained true to farming roots but offers something for all. The committee do a fantastic job in promoting this area and giving families from across the region a great day out.”

Carina Wilde, Marking Manager with Bovis Homes added: “We’re delighted to be partnering with the Newport Show, one of the great events on the Shropshire social calendar.

“As a business we are building hundreds of new homes at a number of locations across this region and we are proud to be a part of this wonderful community.”

The programme includes more than 100 livestock classes, a horse and dog show and the Festival of Food will include live food and drink demonstrations, workshops for adults and children and a street food market.

Other activities will be family entertainment, vintage vehicle and machinery displays, live music, trade stands, antique stalls, schools marquee, handicraft and horticulture competitions, and fairground rides.
